Welcome to my Virtual tour, the theme I would like to explore nostalgia through what I feel gives me this feeling. I have always remembered being amazed by homes that were on hills over looking the ocean. Something about looking at the ocean and being able to see to the other side but knowing there is still glimmering water. Another being neon lights at night which make remember being in Downtown L.A. at night or at a restaurant. Maybe these to aspects of the theme of nostalgia are very L.A. but I’m unaware from not really being outside of this city. Artists Finian, Anya, Sofie Janic and Vega have created worlds that fit this theme for my Virtual tour.
The artist’s name is Finian I suppose and there user name is Noralie78 if you would like to see the artists work. After visiting this world I noticed the artist can edit the sky not only the geographical aspects. Aesthetically, everything from the hill with the castle on top to the Forrest with the river is very pleasing. Being at the castle and looking at ocean was nostalgic by the way everything was very dark. If I had to guess the time I would say it was 7:30 pm. This was made more beautiful as there was a sunset which really adds to a late night.
The artists name is Anya and she created Sao Lucas which to her is the interpretation of the west coast beaches. I believe that her creation reminds of playing the game GTA 5 by the area full of huge trees. Not only that but the rocks and bright aesthetic take me back to the times I have been in Malibu where the waves crashed against the rocks ahead. It is odd to think it looks natural as it looks like an area that mother nature could have created. Yet someone creates this in a video game and as an observer it makes me reminisce.
Cartagena made by artists Sofie Janic and Vegas is a world most can feel a nostalgia towards. There is something about neon lights during the night that make them pop. This gives me an energy of fun and thrill that can be felt at night. Usually a dark aesthetic is related with sinister or scary but in this case the light negates this effect. To myself it brings memories of walking around Downtown L.A. at night with my parents or visiting a restaurant after a party. The trill came from the night bringing out different characters that don’t usually make an appearance during the day or the fun of eating and talking during the time I was suppose to be asleep.
